The achievements of Maureen FitzSimons when she was a teenager in America (which we call Maureen O'Hara today) would have definitely put her into the child-prodigy category. However, for a child with Irish origin, and surrounded by gifted parents and family, these were very natural traits. Maureen entered this loving haven in Ranelagh, Ireland on August 17th, 1920. Marguerita Lea. FitzSimons was a successful contralto. Charles FitzSimons ran a Dublin firm, as well as held shares of the Irish soccer team Shamrock Rovers. Maureen FitzSimons was 2nd in the household of six FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons James O'Hara rounded off this gorgeous group. Maureen was a fan of rough and athletic games as a child and excelled at sports. This passion was combined with an equally natural aptitude for performing. This was demonstrated by her getting almost every Feis award for drama and performances in the theater that her nation offered. At age fourteen, she was admitted into the Abbey Theater, where her dream was to pursue the art of opera and classical theatre.
